JAKE OLSON-ELM

Jake OE caught this bad boy smallmouth a while back and has been holding back on us. Maybe he should quit snowboarding and join Bassmasters?

DIAMOND VALLEY LAKE

Kenny and Mike eating breakfast at 4:30am before driving to Diamond Valley Lake.

Kenny practicing on his iphone.

3.1 lbs and 8.5 inches?

Evan would be proud.

Nerd jelly beans, we also had Sour Patch jelly beans.

My Dad fighting the first fish of the day, skunk insurance for the boat.

Not bad.

Kenny's leap.

Bass Wassup.

Not to brag, but I've had fish of the day every day so far...

Kenny with line problems (insert sad face here).

Mike with bush problems (insert happy face here).

Cheez-its!

Mike was beginning to stress until he hooked this insurance plan.

Thank heavens.

Spy cam... there was a tournament today.

Spy cam worked!

Artsy right?

RAINY DAY FISHING

The forecast warned my Dad and I of the rain. What we didn't expect was the wind and choppy water, add in the rain and lack of tackle (Lance had some of the necessities in San Diego) and today ended up being pretty rough. Anyways, this is a very early pre-wind catch. The day did start promising. Insured.

The insurance came quick for both of us.

I was feeling pretty confident after this one. Underline = unintentional.

The wind gods were called in. We were either speed drifting or bumping the shore.
Side Note: Don't take pantoon boats out on windy days. We had to play savior to two separate pantoon boats. There engines were dying and one got stuck in the back of a cove. We tried to tow them out, but rental boat motor's are like bad little jokes. Or like when I try to be funny. They barely work, so we ended up making a few trips to the dock to get the patrol boats.
This guy lives on the West side of the Lake, he catches bass.

I can't keep a straight face, nor can I get rid of the underline. Green Circle Blogger Status.

Note the smile.
The fishing seemed to take a turn for the best.

False Hopes. So we left early.

WHILE AT OUR POST FISHING MEAL

Sneaky napper.

Kenny serenading us into fishing mode.

This was our first trip to El Capitan, there was a bass tournament...

Banes trying to get us onto some fish before the tournament boats let loose.

Banes action.

Woot woot!

Banes getting it down.

Doubling up.

Who's skunk insurance?

Kenny relieved.

Bass Wassup.
Kenny action.

Kenny beginning to ignite.

Looks like I stole Kenny's fire.

Another? Ok, thank you.

Uh oh.. Banes has a nice one dive into the trees.

It gets wrapped around a branch.

Kenny tries to save the day...

Kenny the Hero!

Nice one Banes.

Banes lands another.

Woot woot.

Sharp Kenny... sharp.

Another classic moment with Shane Banes.
